Rose
Mills’ Biography
Rose
Mills is the proud owner and director of Mills Equestrian
Farm, where adults, children and horses come together For
the Glory of the Lord.
In 1999 Rose began volunteering and taking riding lessons
at Days End Farm, a horse rescue facility, in Lisbon, MD and
at the Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Center in Glenwood,
MD, where she also competed in horse shows. She purchased
her first rescue horse, Oscar, in 2003, and shortly thereafter
purchased a horse for her son Michael, and she hasn’t looked
back.
The Mills Equestrian Farm, located in Sykesville, MD was purchased
by Rose and her family in March 2005. The 12.5 acre farm is
set in a serene and easily accessible community location,
with good pasture for the horses. The outdoor riding arena
is large, with all weather footing, and is well maintained.
Limited indoor riding is available. Rose’s stable is immaculate
and well organized. Her nine horses are kind, in excellent
condition, obviously well loved, and are exceptionally suited
for their jobs of safely teaching children and adults to ride.
Rose is warm, welcoming and energetic, and her facility is
evidence of her enthusiasm for what she does.
Rose teaches a Horse Safety Program consisting of basic horse
care, safety rules, grooming, tacking and riding. She also
teaches private and semi-private lessons for beginner and
intermediate riders and is a Certified Level I instructor
through the Certified Horsemanship Association. Rose was the
Director of the Mills Equestrian Farm Summer Camp in 2006
and was the supervising riding instructor in the arena.
Rose is an avid rider and schools one or two horses daily.
In addition, she takes riding lessons weekly to continue to
improve her riding skills and teaching techniques. She is
a devoted and determined riding instructor and a diligent
student, and will test for Level II certification in 2007.
In addition, she is pursuing a new certification; Equine Psychotherapy.
Her love of people and horses, her study of psychology in
college, and her love of The Lord, has guided her to pursue
this certification. Rose believes that, with the help of the
horses, and the guidance of The Lord, she can help to bring
healing to the children and adults challenged with problematic
emotional, mental, behavioral and relationship issues. Rose
states that “her purpose is to love one another, to help others
and to be a witness for The Lord”.
Testimonials
Mill’s Farm is a wonderful place to learn how to ride
a horse. I have been taking lessons from Rose Mills for two
years now. The summer camp was a great place to spend a summer
and meet new friends. I have always felt safe on any horse
there. My horse riding skills have tripled in the last two
years. Miss Rose is a caring, loving person that is a horses’
best friend.

As
a parent of a horse lover, The Mills Farm is the perfect place
to learn how to ride a horse. Rose Mills has always welcomed
her riders with open arms, no matter what their riding ability
is. She has taught my daughter all the concepts of riding
and care of horses. I have always felt comfortable leaving
my daughter with Rose for her lesson. She provides a safe
learning environment with a kind heart. She will always have
our trust and support.

The
Mills Farm is a kind and loving environment, which is wonderful
for our children. Our ten year old loves riding and has learned
many skills this year. Our seven year old participated in
a recreation program at the farm where she learned how to
care for the horses and have safety around horses. She received
some riding experiences each time. Our children have grown
to love the horses and they’ve learned that horses are a great
deal of work and responsibility. I was looking for a non-competitive
riding environment where my daughter could learn to ride without
the worries of trying to be better than someone else or feeling
inadequate to yet another. We found what we were looking for
at The Mills Farm.
